Abstract
At the end of May 1480, Captain Juan Rejón ordered the public execution of governor Pedro de Vera, during the conquest of the Island of Gran Canaria. The execution was proclaimed by the trumpet player Juan Francés, who later became the first town crier of the city of Las Palmas.
