On 13th May 1640, a general procession was held in Granada, in addition to the processions that had already taken place, as an act of atonement for the dfor the libel placed on the corner of the Town Hall against the Virgin Mary on 5 April, during the night of Maundy Thursday. To complement the events of that day, elevated stages were set up in the Campo del Triunfo, where two autos sacramentales were performed by Antonio Prado's company: La hidalga del valle by Pedro Calderón de la Barca and El hereje: Auto en alegoría del sacrílego y detractable cartel que se puso en la ciudad de Granada contra la Ley de Dios y su Madre Santísima by Álvaro Cubillo de Aragón, a local author who wrote it specifically for the occasion “in three days”.
The approximate location of the ephemeral structures created for the occasion has been marked in magenta.
