Miguel de Cervantes musical itinerary

This Miguel de Cervantes musical itinerary is based on the article “Miguel de Cervantes en la Sevilla de Francisco Guerrero, un paisaje musical compartido” that can be read in the link found in the reference section. Along this route you can visit some of the sacred, domestic, civic and street scenarios that Cervantes could have walked in the years he lived in Seville. Associated events will allow you to explore the sonic experiences in which the writer could have heard and for all of them you will find different resources with images, documents, audios and videos that will enrich your experience of this journey to the personal and literary world of the most universal of Hispanic writers. It is an open and dynamic itinerary to which we will be adding new events over the next few weeks, while we also test it to remove errors that can be detected.

Recommendations:

  • Do not forget the climate of Seville when planning your route.
  • Do not miss Santa Marta square (you can access this through an alley from the Virgen de los Reyes square, on the corner Mateos Gago street, old Borceguinería). There you will see the house of the cathedral chapter in which Mateo Vazquez de Leca died (1591). This influential character, canon of Seville cathedral and secretary to Felipe II, played an important role in Cervantes's failure to realize his aspirations on his return from captivity in Algiers.
